The Floyd family loves to travel and immerse themselves in other places and cultures, including one of their favorite places, Venice, Italy. Pictured left to right: Ken, Anapaula and Kucrecia.
Ken and Lucrecia are also ardent about helping others and giving
back. Ken is on the board of directors for CrossPurpose, a local nonprofit working to “abolish economic, relational and spiritual poverty through career development.” Ken’s passion for serving is grounded in “paying it forward, finding ways to help those that have fallen on hard times or may be less fortunate than we are,” said Lucretia.
Lucretia also actively finds opportunities to help those around her. She was a teacher for 15 years, both in the U.S. and Mexico, and currently she is a medical interpreter in Denver. She is passionate about advocating for others who are vulnerable and who have been left out or marginalized.
In her current work, Lucrecia says she helps others who have experienced injustice or discrimination because they don’t speak the language. Additionally, she is an active volunteer at church and with Anapaula’s events.
When not helping others, the Floyd family loves to travel the world and dive into different cultures, customs and food. They also participate in many community and Village events and activities. They approach each day and experience life offers with an immersive attitude.
The Floyd family loves adventure and helping others. Lucrecia is originally from Mexico City and Ken is originally from New Orleans; they met in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Lucrecia was working and Ken was traveling when a rainstorm brought them together. A long-distance romance of love letters through the mail and expensive long distance phone calls led to marriage four years later.
After a few years of working too hard, the Floyds found themselves back in Mexico. Lucrecia was a teacher and Ken a utility executive when they decided to take a two-year sabbatical and traveled around Lucrecia’s home country. Eventually, they quit their jobs and stayed a few years more until after their daughter Anapaula was born; they moved north to Sacramento, CA.
Xcel Energy brought the Floyd family to Colorado in 2007, and they quickly fell in love with The Village at Castle Pines. Anapaula attended American Academy and is now a senior at Valor Christian high school where she is the DECA president and serves on the Sources of Strength Diversity Council.
As a family and as individuals, the Floyds
work hard and find purpose along the way.
Ken learned to speak Spanish in his free time, but also by traveling to and living in Mexico (tutoring from Lucrecia helped too). Anapaula is passionate about figure skating. She competes in individual events but is also part of the Ice Theatre of the Rockies team. She has been
team captain for several years and is also vice president of the Junior Board for Denver Colorado Figure Skating.
