W4 hat to expect as the I-25 South Gap Project enters final year of construction

The 18-mile project will deliver a new express lane in each direction, wider shoulders, and five new bridges.
CDOT said to date, 620,000 tons of asphalt has been placed on the project, with 75% of paving complete. Crews have also relocated nearly 90,000 linear ft of existing fiber-optic line that was beneath I-25.
When complete, the 18-mile I-25 South Gap project between Castle Rock and Monument will deliver a new express lane in each direction, wider shoulders, five new bridges, four new
wildlife crossings, 28 miles of deer fencing (expected to deliver 90% decline in animal/ vehicle collisions), a southbound 1-25 truck climbing lane at Monument hill,
a southbound 1-25 chain-up station and improved technology.

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) announced it has entered its fourth and final year of the I-25 South Gap highway construction. The entire project cost is
$419 million and is expected to conclude in November 2022. CDOT expects the project will finish on-time and on-budget.
Motorists can expect to see paving operations and crews finishing bridge work, specifically
in Larkspur and Monument, which may require I-25 ramp and bridge closures. In addition, motorists will see wider travel lanes as crews eliminate barriers throughout the I-25 South Gap work zone. As lanes widen, it is still vital for
motorists to heed posted speed limits and keep a safe following distance and never drive impaired.
CDOT said the five bridges to be reconstructed on the project are nearly complete, with the Spruce Mountain Road bridge, the bridge over Plum Creek, and the Greenland Road bridge at 100% completion; the Upper Lake Gulch Road bridge 95% complete; and the County Line Road bridge 70% complete.
