ALLIE WANDRAAS TEACHER LEWIS & CLARK
“When the pandemic hit, I never thought about a career change, but I was really stressed at the beginning of the school year. The reason the pandemic hasn’t flipped my world upside down is because of my faith. My partner and I read Scripture everyday. I’m able to say, ‘okay, this is what we’re dealing with right now.’ ”
AMANDA PETERSON RN, BSN
“A lot about nursing in a pandemic has shaken my faith. I’ve had to face coming to terms with my own mortality which has been hard. When I was young, I thought that God controlled everything. At times during the pandemic, I’ve wondered if God controls anything! My experiences have made me open to the “gray space” in the middle between those two perspectives. There has to be a middle.”
DR. AARON AUDET FAMILY PHYSICIAN
"I believe that God does not control illness, but that God listens to us and helps us to navigate these difficult days. We have seen God at work in the pandemic in positive ways: the recoveries that are happening and the development of vaccines. In healthcare we are trying to be as truthful as we can at that moment, recognizing that we are learning more everyday about this virus...
When I'm nervous I lean on faith and prayer."
We will get through this. We'll look back one day and tell stories. All of this has made me appreciate the things that I never used to appreciate and realize how fortunate we are. We just need to take it day by day.

Q&A: BECKY CARLSON
When Billings decided to offer the Remote Learning option for students this year, Becky Carlson was called upon to be the Remote Learning Administrator for Billings Public Schools. Below she shares her perspective.
WHY ARE YOU AN EDUCATOR?
"I love the opportunity it presents to see kids grow and to be a part of a child's story."
WHAT HAS HELPED YOU THROUGH THIS HARD YEAR?
"I prayed more in this last year than ever before. I needed that strength from Him to power through this."
WITH NO REMOTE OPTION NEXT YEAR, WHAT'S NEXT?
"I once saw a sign that said, 'Don't worry about tomorrow, God's already there.' I told my boss, my job as an educator is to serve the people. I will go where you need me."
