KOG HIRES A "NEW" CHOIR DIRECTOR
Ifyou’ve paid attention to the music at King of Glory, especially in the last year of pre-recorded songs during the pandemic, then Bruce Erickson is already a familiar face to you. If you sang in the choir with him in the 80’s then he’s probably an old friend of yours. Now we add a new (but not-so-new) moniker to the list: Adult Choir Director.
The joke here is that Bruce has already been the choir director at KOG: In the late 80’s as a Rocky Mountain College student, Bruce began his first stint as our choir director for a number of years before moving to North Dakota where he excelled as musician and music instructor for nineteen years.

What if you've never sung in a choir before, you ask? Bruce has this message for you:
"All are welcome! The best part of singing in a group is that everyone is a 'star'. Together we are successful. I would encourage anyone who enjoys singing along, whether it be with the radio, during a hymn in church or in the shower to consider giving the KOG Choir a try. Singing is only one part of the overall fellowship experience that happens within the group. Some of the best choristers I know have developed the skill through copying what the person next to them is doing.
It's never too late to give it a try!"
Bruce and Debbie, his wife of 28 years, made their way back to Billings, MT, in 2014 after a career change into the crude oil industry and a desire to reconnect with old friends. Bruce has been a cantor, choir member, and pianist for KOG over the years and, with the retirement of John Haughey last spring, has accepted the position of Adult Choir Director once again.

We asked Bruce about his approach to music and his vision for the choir at King of Glory:
"Music, not unlike our Christian journey, is filled with moments of 'awe' when everything aligns and is, for at least a moment, perfect. It is these moments that allow us to connect
spiritually in a way unlike any other. What’s
really amazing is one never knows when these might occur or with whom it is necessarily happening with. It might be in a worship service, a rehearsal or, even more magically, in passing, as one hears that 'perfect' blend, balance and color."
