CITIZEN SCIENCE
The more data we can collect on trailhead snow depth, user numbers, access issues and winter travel patterns, the more effectively we can identify, map and advocate for high- priority zones for backcountry and Nordic skiing and other human-powered winter adventures. Use the free smart phone app from Mountain Hub to share your tracks and observations, and check our online Action Center for how you can join our corps of citizen scientists.

WINTER TRAVEL PLANNING
The protection of critical winter landscapes depends on the strength of our collective voice. Over the next ten years, the forest service will designate appropriate zones
for winter motorized use on 70 NATIONAL FORESTS covering 130 MILLION ACRES.
The rest will be protected for human-powered use and wildlife habitat. The process is now underway on 5 national forests in Northern California. Tune into our Action Center for how to make public comments on the forests you care about.
