Speaking from the floor, one of the Culture Summit’s attendees, Raymond Asongbang Neba’ane, Director of the National Museum of Cameroon, sympathised with Mr Kellner. “Heritage is important in the part of the world where I come from,” he said. “It is part of the spirituality and religion of the people; it is a matter of sentiment. It defines who we are as people and if the people don’t have access to their heritage they will be cut off from their ancestry. “So I hope, during the course of this Summit, that there will be a recommendation to the Brazilian government, so that they know that the whole world thinks about what happened last year.” 47
