Coca Cola Eastern and Northern
Ireland Visit
On Thursday 19 September Eastern branch members and stakeholders joined their Northern Ireland branch counterparts at a joint event in the Coca Cola bottling plant in Lisburn. The facility employs over 550 staff who produce, distribute, market and sell a wide range of soft drinks. As a major employer across the Island of Ireland, the company are proud to contribute more than £10 million to the local economy through the supply chain.
Over 30 individuals joined the event including CILT Ireland CEO Mick Curran who remarked on how well the event was organised and attended by a variety of people. Richard
Butler, Chair of the Eastern branch furthered that it was “a sign of significant membership interest in future similar events and opportunities”.
This is an opportunity for the Eastern Section to develop stronger relationships with CILT UK NI and open discussions on developing further joint events going forward.
Many thanks especially to Jamie Shaw, Chair CILT UK NI, and Ken Davis, Secretary CILT UK NI.
As an Institute we hope to offer more interesting and diverse events for members in 2020.
CILT UK Thames Valley Group and CILT
Ireland Eastern Section Relationship
Bears Fruit
On Monday 09 September Eastern Chair Richard Butler was invited to attend an evening with the Thames Valley Group (TVG) as part of a twining project of the two sections from Ireland and the UK.
TVG is part of the Central Southern Region, along with the Hampshire and Dorset Group, Surrey Group and the Swindon Group.
Andrew Stout, International Lead and
Secretary of the Thames Valley Group
has been instrumental in forging this
relationship with the Irish Eastern
Section, with benefits already being
realised. As well as sharing ideas on
CILT events, Richard outlined great
opportunities for the Eastern Section to work together with TVG. This includes sharing in development of the benefits and delivery of enhancing membership value proposition and opportunities. With the challenges associated with the
UK leaving the EU looming over the horizon, such dialogue and knowledge sharing are essential.
We very much look forward to this growing relationship and what this will bring to the future of the two sections.
