 When Supply Chain Meets
Manufacturing - It Fragments
Single Source MRO through BAY
Brendan Markham, BAY Enterprises
Iwas making a pitch recently to a multinational manufacturing company. While offering the suite of services from our value chain, focusing on our industrial
repair program and critical cleaning, I was informed that their logistics partner was providing the service of cleaning production support aids. This is the new landscape we find ourselves in as service providers: we are competing against logistics companies who are jumping the counter from stores and offering services to operations.
This is an opportunity for progressive logistics companies to gain a competitive advantage. They can take support to another level by adding a full MRO (maintenance repair operations) support package to their logistics
and supply chain solutions. To make that jump logistics companies need to identify and seek technical service partners to collaborate with in order to address the customers’ needs and wants.
On the client side, every smart company needs to overlook internal cost centers in relation to services. You can take a holistic approach to plant supply and support, and reap the rewards in cost saving in relation to expenditure on services. As eluded to by Philip Kotler in his book Marketing Management, “companies are increasingly reducing the number of suppliers. Ford and Motorola have cut the numbers of suppliers by 20-80% – there is even a trend towards single sourcing.”
Manufacturing, and especially the logistics that serve it,
is moving from a fragmented support base and looking
to BAY Enterprises for integrated services, backed by capability, volume and experience and, of course, rivalling original parts and installation in quality and duration.
BAY Enterprises will work with your logistic business
in giving your customer 24/7 access to Cloud based visibility of the maintenance/repair/rebuild process, both on a maintenance and a predictive level, allowing for operational collaboration between your company and BAY at every stage.
