Welcome to the Spring edition of the CILT Linkline magazine. This edition takes you through many of the CILT events that have taken place in 2016 so far. CILT have continued to deliver a diverse assembly of events which have attracted a wide range of members and industry experts. This edition also includes some very inter- esting industry related articles.
CILT Ireland has recently appointed a
new President, Mr. Paddy Doherty. The Presidential Address was held in Smur t Graduate Business School. Here he out- lined his two year vision for the Institute. The evening also saw new members of the Institute being welcomed through the awarding of Membership Certi cates. Chartered Fellowships were also awarded to eminent individuals in the industry. CILT would like to congratulate and welcome all new members and we look forward to working with you in the near future.
We are delighted to present to you in this edition, the win- ners of the CILT Student Idea of the Year Awards 2016. These awards were held on the 14th March 2016 in DIT Aungier Street and saw countless entries being shortlisted down to six nalists, who presented to judges on the day. CILT would like to thank all who attended the awards ceremony and give a special thanks to all entries. The full summary of this event can be read on page 23 of this edition.
In this issue, we have included articles outlining our coun- try’s Capital Investment Plan, Irish exports in 2016 and a very interesting article on Health and Safety, as well as many more. Each were written by individuals working in the industry, and who present their own advice, opinions and views on the re- spective topics covered.
Towards the end of last year, CILT also hosted its annual alumni event. The main attraction of the evening was a pres- entation by Professor Edward Sweeney on the topic of Sup- ply Chain Management. You can read Edward’s summary of this presentation on page 16 of this edition, which highlights his inspirational performance on Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
Details of all CILT events are available on our website -
www.cilt.ie.
European Supply Chain Day took place on the 21st April 2016. CILT Ireland ran three events throughout the country linked to this day. These will be covered in the next issue.
I hope you thoroughly enjoy this edition of Linkline and I look forward to meeting new and existing CILT members throughout the year. I would also urge any members or com- panies that would like to contribute to the next issue of Lin- kline to please contact me.
