The Ādam Paradox Hypothesis 88
Falsifiable Predictions
APH is bold but testable. It could be refuted if:
Gradualist continuity: Durable symbolism appears steadily and globally
before 70kya.
Single-locus sufficiency: One late coding mutation is shown to explain
symbolic cognition.
Asynchrony: Different populations develop durable symbolism
independently at very different times.
Demography-first: Durable symbolism arises solely from population
growth, without cognitive change.
Positive Predictions
P1 Regulatory synchrony: Ancient African DNA will reveal coordinated
regulatory shifts across networks, not a single sweep.
P2 Temporal decoupling: Key duplications predate 70kya, while cultural
ignition appears later —
“prepared clay
” then “firing.
”
P3 Cross-continental synchrony: Symbols appear globally once population
density permits, not as slow local ramps.
P4 Surplus persistence: Non-adaptive cultural products (cathedrals, abstract
math, music) persist as signs of surplus cognition.
Limitations
Mechanistic opacity: APH does not specify the precise biological “switch.
”
It infers activation from footprints, as black holes were inferred before
direct imaging.
Ancient DNA gaps: African aDNA between 100–300kya is sparse; stronger
genomic testing awaits better sampling.
Metaphysical layer: The divine activation is theological; science can only test
its predicted footprints.
