What is a Robo Advisor?
The term “robo advisor” was coined by the traditional wealth management industry as a way to confuse investors. Mission accomplished. In reality there are no robots involved at all. Robo advisors are digital wealth management platforms that allow portfolio managers to automate some of the work, rebalancing for example. Rob Carrick of the Globe and Mail wrote an article that these digital robo-advisors “make good sense for.... someone who has neither the time nor inclination to learn about do-it-yourself investing and wants advice at a reasonable price.”
