UICT HOLISTIC EDUCATION CENTRES
The UICT Holistic Education Centres
It is with a feeling of anticipation, gratitude and humility that we approach the year 2023 with exciting flagship projects. We would like to present an overview of the status of the UICT, which has been attained by the grace of The Almighty and your unrelenting generosity and commitment to provide a better future for all.
The Universal Islamic and Cultural Trust (UICT) is a non-profit organisation (NPO) established in South Africa in 2000. UICT’s aim is to provide an environment that meets the basic needs of our people, both physically and spiritually. Our vision and mission are to reach out to more indigenous communities and support them in achieving a universally acceptable quality of life and standard of learning.
The organisation was founded in Turkey and has a global reach spanning 100+ countries. This has provided a wealth of experience and expertise to draw on. It has also enabled us to establish specialist centres for various age groups, genders and areas of training as well as the opportunity of relocating teaching expertise as the need arises.
Holistic education is the cornerstone of the organisation, with the vision to transform society by uplifting youth through moral guidance, discipline, honesty and selflessness.
“Transformation comes from within,” explains UICT KwaZulu- Natal Director. “Through spiritual education and a connection to the Almighty, we can transform youth into mature, respectful, hardworking individuals, who are looked up to with admiration.”
From its humble beginning in Clayton Road in Overport, UICT- KZN has successfully maintained its growth, establishing 20+ centres operating across KwaZulu-Natal, Freestate and Lesotho.
The organisation also strives to address issues such as food security, the provision of clean drinking water, housing and healthcare. Meeting these basic needs will help provide a
sense of well-being and a living safety net to help citizens become useful, prosperous, contributing individuals in society.
UICT activities include building and running schools, food distribution, water well drilling, publications, circumcision clinics, health screening, seedling planting, Qurbani and meat distribution, educational material distribution and cultural tours, solar energy projects, socio-eco parks and other uplifting programmes and projects.
UICT has managed to reach more people by cooperating with other like-minded organisations since its inception. This sharing of joint organisational skills, insights, and experiences enriches us when introducing new projects, as challenges are looked at in a refreshingly new way.
“Through spiritual education and a connection to the Almighty, we can transform youth into mature, respectful, hardworking individuals, who are looked up to with admiration.”
