The BMD team further visited key attraction areas within Monteseel that are also open to the public:
•
• •
View sites - these offer spectacular views as Monteseel is high above its surrounding areas. On a clear day, one can see as far as the ocean to the east and the Drakensberg to the west.
There are two trails which can both be found starting at the viewing points with a marked board and a well-used pathway.
The Monteseel Cliffs - these are considered the most popular traditional climbing venue in KwaZulu-Natal
The hike was concluded by Ms Chumisa Thengwa highlighting the appreciation she has for the amazing support from civil groups and non-government organization such as the Monteseel Conservancy, involved in the conservation of eThekwini’s natural heritage and vowed to relentlessly continue to strengthen such partnerships, as to leave a legacy for the future generations. She concluded by also encouraging the general public to explore Monteseel and enjoy the beautiful and unique landscape that the Monteseel conservation area offers.
