            CHALLENGES AND RECOMMENDATIONS
1.To address the challenge of lack of institutional framework for implementation of the programme, Biodiversity Stewardship policy was developed and adopted by the Council Resolution of 25th May 2017.
2.To address the traditional community members’lack of exposure to implementation of the programme, the programme team collaborated with South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) and Rural ABM in supporting traditional communities’ delegates to attend various national Biodiversity Stewardship Workshops and learning exchange programmes.
3.To address the challenge of limited information about biodiversity features of the targeted sites, the programme has partnered with research institutions such as the University of KwaZulu-Natal and Agriculture Research Council to undertake BioBlitz. Knowledge gathered through these sessions will highlight areas that require management intervention to improve and enhance these important biodiversity assets.
