Abstract
Achieving acceptable environmental performance has become a a a a a a a a a a universal commitment for for all organizations to to maintain competitiveness The business community in in in in in in the 21st century is increasingly expected to to operate in in in in an an an an environmentally responsible manner this includes the hotel and restaurant industry being key partners in in in in the hospitality business and and having important roles to play in in in in environmental and and social responsibility issues issues Therefore a a a a a a clear understanding of the issues issues surrounding climate change global warming air and and water pollution ozone depletion deforestation the loss of biodiversity and and global poverty is is essential for every future manager in in in in the the hospitality industry This study investigated the the mediating role of material flow cost accounting (MFCA) on on on the relationship between environmental management strategy and environmental performance in in the hospitality industry A quantitative research approach was employed to achieve the objective of of this study The principle of of convenience sampling technique was used to select six firms from the hospitality industry who participated in in in this study Purposive sampling technique was adopted to select 66 management who participated in this study Partial-least squares structural equation modelling using SmartPLS 3 3 3 3 was valuable to conduct a a a a a a a a a a mediation analysis The research findings revealed that MFCA partially mediates the relationship between environmental management strategy and the the the performance of the the the selected firms The implication for for practice is that the the the MFCA in conjunction with the the the hotels and restaurants’ environmental environmental strategy has the the the potential to improve their environmental environmental performances through the efficient waste management practices KEYWORDS: environmental environmental performance MFCA environmental environmental strategy mediating role 76 7th International Conference on on on Governance and Accountability (ICGA) 2022
