The District together will Local Municipalities has ensured that plans and strategies are in place to mitigate disaster risks that have been identified above and to assist in reduction of fatalities. The immediate actions taken by the municipalities are:
• Risk Reduction initiatives include: Installation of Lightning Conductors and Fire/Heat Detectors
• Training and education:
• Community Awareness Campaigns & Road shows
• Emergency Relief Programs which includes provision of Wendy Houses; Blankets and Food parcels
• Ward Committee Members, Amakhosi & Izinduna, Volunteers and Officials were trained on Disaster Risk Management
and Basic Fire Fighting
