1988: Joined Artworks as a DTP Operator using one of the first Apple Macintosh computers in SA
1996: Received 6% members’ interest and appointed Studio Director
2004: Appointed 26% shareholding member of Artworks
2007: Acquired a further 10% shareholding
2012: Appointed 70% shareholding member of Artworks
Shakila was the founding employee when Computer Artwork Services was established in 1988. She was responsible for the layout on the first Apple Mac computer in Durban using brand new desktop publishing software. Since then, Shakila has been at the forefront of desktop publishing technology.
CURRENT POSITION
HER CURRENT RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Managing the studio – traffic control and repro quality control
• Human Resources management and payroll (staff of 8)
• Technical troubleshooting
• Procurement of computer equipment, software and peripherals
• Managing client accounts from concept to print, including design, layout and
approving jobs on the press
