MUSEUM COLLECTIONS MAKE CONNECTIONS
The Museum, in collaboration with the Local History Museum, the Durban
Art Gallery and the Luthuli Museum, celebrated International Museum Day
on 20 May. The theme was ‘Museum Collections Make Connections’. Learners, educators and members of the public
from Durban and the North Coast were invited to participate in the event. Each of the participating institutions provided items/artifacts/specimens from their collections to be included in the day’s activities.
The objective of the event was to spark dialogue among different parts
of our community by bringing together young and old people. It was envisaged that through interaction with the items from the collections, the participants would remember stories they had heard or facts they knew about these items and this would help to build connections
