The merger of Tourism KZN with the KZN Film Commission was advanced to its final stages with extensive stakeholder and employee engagement of both entities. This has been a long and complex process but one which will combine resources to effectively broaden the marketing potential of KZN through film making.
Our shared vision and strategic leadership is only as good as the teams that implement plans and deliver on the mandate which Tourism KwaZulu-Natal has been entrusted with. These teams are our members of staff whom I thank for their sterling work, without which we would not have been able to achieve our goals. You are true ambassador for KwaZulu-Natal.
I also extend my thanks to the Chairman of the TKZN Board Mr Sithembiso Madlala and all the Board members for their unwavering support and strategic guidance during the year. We are also cognisant and grateful for the support from our shareholder, the Department of Economic Development,
Tourism and Environmental Affairs, who have placed tourism development, especially that of rural and township tourism at the top of his agenda.
As Tourism KZN closes its doors after 25 years of service in the tourism sector, I wish to extend my thanks and appreciation to all our trade and partners for the support they have given us in our efforts to position and catapult KZN as a globally recognized tourism destination.
We reflect on the work achieved in the past 30 years of democracy with pride as we begin a new chapter with renewed spirits to achieve even more as the KZN Tourism and Film Authority.
