Fostering of Institutional Culture
In terms of fostering an institutional culture that promotes tolerance and respect for fundamental human rights, thereby creating an appropriate environment for teaching, research, and learning, the IF supports the University Strategic Plan (ENVISION2030), in pursuance of a transformational agenda.

Naming of Buildings Task Team
Meeting with DVCPO
On 15 March 2023, a meeting was held to discuss the naming of DUT buildings between the IF task team and Deputy Vice-Chancellor of People and Operations (DVCPO). The meeting was attended by Mr Mandla Shange (Council member of IF), Mr Nelson Munsamy (Deputy Chair of the Institutional Forum), Dr V. Mthethwa (DVCPO), and Baphiwe Daweti (IF Task Team Convenor).
Transformation Engagement with Executive Deans/ Deputy Deans
As part of ensuring transformation at the DUT, the IF EXCO members met the executive deans and deputy deans to discuss their progress in terms of transformation in their respective faculties.
The following topics were discussed at the engagement sessions:
• Implementation of the ENVISION2030 and Lived
Values Framework, that is the
• implementation of the strategic objectives, the
appointment of the right people into the right
• seats, and demographic representation of staff in
terms of nationality, race, qualifications, and
• gender
• Issues related to headships in all faculties
• Succession planning for each faculty
• Human capacity development
• Wellness of staff
