Wiseman Christopher Djuma, a distinguished graduate of the DUT, has recently been honoured as one of South Africa’s Top 10 Most Employable Graduates at the prestigious GradStar Awards. This achievement is not just a personal triumph for Wiseman but also a shining example of the calibre of students that DUT produces. When asked about how being a DUT graduate contributed to his career milestone,Wiseman reflects on the critical role his alma mater played in his journey.“Being a DUT graduate has provided me with a strong foundation in both academic and practical skills.The hands-on experience and the emphasis on real-world application gave me the confidence to tackle challenges head- on, which played a crucial role in achieving this milestone,” he shares. “DUT instilled in me the value of continuous learning and adaptability, both of which have been instrumental in my success.”

The collaborative projects and internships exposed me to diverse perspectives and teamwork, preparing me to handle complex situations with ease,” he explains. “Additionally, the focus on leadership development has been key in setting me apart from others in the industry.”
These attributes have proven invaluable as Wiseman navigates his professional path. The university’s approach to teaching encourages students to think critically, work effectively with others, and innovate – skills that are indispensable in the fast- paced, ever-evolving work environment he now inhabits.

For Wiseman, one of the most pivotal moments during his time at DUT came during a challenging final-year project.“One defining moment for me was during a final-year project where I worked alongside industry professionals. It was a challenging
experience that pushed me to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical, high-pressure environment. That project opened my eyes to the impact I could have in my field and solidified my decision to pursue a career in this direction,” he recalls.
This hands-on project not only sharpened his skills but also gave him a deep understanding of the industry’s demands.The experience was a crucial stepping stone in his decision to pursue a career where he could make a tangible difference in his chosen field.
