   coordinates a project through the ACCESS KZN Habitable Planet Community School Project, a UNIZULU branch sponsored by CSIR.
The project is also encourages science in disadvantaged community schools by organising science clubs, taking them on field trips of scientific orientation and providing a science centre for career orientation. Interactive field trips with schools are paired with high teaching technologies. Currently, they have lobbied CSIR for computers to assist students under COVID-19 conditions.
• In the Department of Botany, Dr T.H.C. Mostert led a field excursion to Dlinza Forest Reserve with the Grade 8 learners of Felixton College as part of an enrichment programme for the Biological Sciences stream on 3 March 2020.
• Dr I. Moyo in the Department of Geography is a reviewer of more than 10 international academic journals in Human Movement Science. Dr Erasmus joined the University of WITS’ ‘young athlete’ working group.

The Department of Consumer Science delivered a sewing machine to KwaDondotha women who are involved in a stokvel, as part of the South Africa Sweden University Forum (SASUF) three themes. Social transformation and societal change were championed by Prof Kolanisi. The act was aired on 1KZN TV.
Several community projects are run by the Faculty of Education in collaboration with the Department of Basic Education, e.g. working with underperforming schools to provide sustainable support and working with learners who experience learning barriers and challenges to manage and reduce challenges.
In the Faculty of Commerce, Administration and Law, the JSE Schools Challenge is a simulation competition developed and run by the JSE for high school pupils. The CE project involves UNIZULU students being trained by a representative from the JSE to mentor high school pupils in their participation in the JSE Schools Challenge. The mentors were co-ordinated and supervised by Mrs Soldat in 2020.
