African Council for Educators (SACE), DHET, DBE with
its provincial departments of education, districts, circuits
and schools. •
• The Early Childhood Education (ECE) Department is engaged in a partnership titled ‘Collaboration Project for Literacies by Community Engagement/Service Learning’
with UKZN on a project led by Dr Angela James of
UKZN. The department participates in the PrimTEd • Project on Assessment of Maths and Literacy (English
as a first additional language) in collaboration with other
universities offering a Bachelor of Education.
• NRF Research Project (2019-2021). Learning to teach •
Natural Sciences using mobile devices: a design- based research on pre-service teachers in South Africa University of Free State (UFS), DUT, UNIZULU.
• History of Mathematics, Science and Language • Education Project (MSLEP) sponsored by the NRF – UNIZULU, University of Western Cape (UWC), Rhodes University and the Nelson Mandela University (NMU).
• A collaboration with the Wadhwani Foundation to promote entrepreneurship among staff and students. Two of UNIZULU’s staff members (Mr T. Mtshengu from Economics and Mrs X. April from Law) participated in a
series of ‘training of the trainers’ workshops where they were taught to train entrepreneurial staff and students at UNIZULU to become better entrepreneurs. Collaboration with the Arizona State University in the USA where Dr Magigaba’s visit forged a relationship. Delegates were supposed to attend UNIZULU’s MBALI international conference and assist with advice on the entrepreneurship centre.
Collaboration with the University of Glasgow and UJ where Professor Kaseeram and Professor Greyling are working on a mutual research project that will benefit staff from UNIZULU who want to pursue their PhDs. Collaboration with ABSA bank in terms of sponsorship of the MBALI 2020 international conference. ABSA was also interested in doing a community engagement project to mark the sponsorship.
The Department of Public Administration has numerous collaborations with local and provincial government representatives. Mr Nkonde and Miss Xolisile are also liaising with Enactus South Africa to re-introduce the programme at UNIZULU. During Entrepreneurship Week, the faculty has collaborations with Ithala Bank, Standard Bank, ABSA, Shanduka Black Umbrellas, the Moses Kotane Foundation, Department of Local
