  Human exploration spaceship - Orion
One cannot talk about human exploration and leave Orion out. Orion is a new NASA spacecraft that is an important part of the Artemis missions, NASA’s plan to explore more of the moon. Astronauts will travel on Orion from Earth using the Gateway spaceship that will fly around the moon.
Orion will do many things but it has four key tasks:
• Carry the astronauts safely to space;
• Be a home while the astronauts are in space;
• Bring them safely back to Earth;
• Be a “lifeboat” if the crew has to return to Earth in an emergency.
Public and private organisations in several countries are expanding their spacecraft development programmes, contributing significantly to humanity’s expansion beyond Earth. Many more spacecraft are currently being developed, such as Susie by the European Space Agency, Ganganyaan by the Indian Space Research Organisation, Orel by ROSCOSMOS, and Dream Chaser by Sierra Space and NASA.
Want to travel to space? Here is how you can
Most people who have gone into space are highly trained astronauts and cosmonauts. Those governments interested in sending some of their citizens into space choose candidates from a large pool based on their background, and physical and psychological characteristics.
Candidates go through rigorous training before being chosen for an initial spaceflight, and they then prepare thoroughly for each mission assigned to them.
Astronauts and cosmonauts belong to different categories. The first category includes pilots with military backgrounds and extensive experience flying high-performance aircraft. The second includes scientists and engineers who are primarily responsible for carrying out experiments and other activities planned for a specific mission.
A third category is made up of private individuals who are willing to pay a large sum of money for a spaceflight. These individuals typically go into space once.
Space tourism
Space tourism is a commercial activity where people travel into space for recreational or leisure purposes. People travel to space as tourists, watching a rocket launch, going stargazing, or traveling to a space-focused destination.
