Dr Thabani Mazibuko (Author)
Dr Mazibuko is a space enthusiast, author, and chairperson of the South African Space Technology for Sustainable Development Foundation, which facilitates various space programmes that inspire young people to participate in space science technology and thus become directly involved in creating solutions in this rapidly changing world.
In collaboration with other space-related stakeholders, this organisation provides international space information-sharing platforms, and outreach programmes in robotics and coding, rockets, satellites, space applications, and virtual reality. His doctoral research focused on how space technology could be potentially used for sustainable development.
Professor Martin Snow (Editor)
Professor Martin Snow is a solar physicist and SANSA’s very first SARCHI Research Chair at the Space Weather Centre in Hermanus. Dr Snow has a PhD in Astrophysical, Planetary, and Atmospheric Science from the University of Colorado Boulder in the US. His research interest centres around ultraviolet solar spectral irradiance (SSI) measurements and he has been principal investigator and lead instrument scientist on several critical space missions. His roles include building a solar physics community, supporting the Space Weather Warning Center, mentoring students, recruiting new students into solar physics, conducting outreach, assistance with a new space mission, and establishing a ground-based solar observatory.
