Dr Pavitra Pillay
Faculty of Health Sciences
Dr Pavitra Pillay is the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Durban University of Technology.
The focus of her research includes women’s health, particularly cervical cancer, HPV and risky adolescent sexual behaviour. Other research interests include infectious diseases, health management, public health and epidemiology. She is also passionate about growing research in the Faculty of Health Sciences and engages actively in research supervision, research examination and other
peer review and capacity building activities. Her current research is an investigation of urogenital human papillomavirus (HPV and schistosomiasis) among young women at risk for cervical cancer and HIV. Her international linkages include collaborative research with Oslo University, University of Copenhagen and the Leiden University Medical Centre.
