Through its involvement in networks like UNIT Africa, the African Consortium of Higher Education Researchers, and the UNESCO Chair on Intercultural Competence, DUT is significantly enhancing its global research profile. Public lectures, workshops, and dialogue sessions have helped build inclusive pedagogies and intercultural competencies across the university. These activities align with ENVISION2030’s focus on social justice, leadership for humanity, and the cultivation of a globally aware academic community.
Strategic international partnerships are also yielding measurable financial benefits. Projected tuition income from new exchange programmes presents a strong return on investment, supporting financial sustainability and enabling reinvestment into research, innovation, and student support. These achievements have elevated DUT’s reputation, positioning the university as a continental leader in global engagement and transformative education.
The DUT Community Engagement has played a pivotal role in advancing education, social empowerment, and career development across urban, peri-urban, and rural communities.Through strategic partnerships with faculties, departments, and social organisations, DUT is positively impacting students, educators, and schools.
One of the most notable impacts has been the increased access to higher education through the UNI4ALL programme, which assists matriculants in navigating the application process. This initiative has contributed to a rise in first-time university enrolments, positioning DUT as a driver of academic access and success and in bridging key educational gaps, empowering students with knowledge and skills for STEM careers.
Through these collective efforts, DUT continues to empower communities, advance research, and lead in sustainable, inclusive, and globally engaged higher education.
