The Valley of 1000 Hills
Wake up early in our hills - for we have so much to see and do that you would not want to waste a minute. Situated between 650 and 800 metres above sea level, the area of 1 000 Hills is nationally known as one of the most exciting adventure-hubs our country has to offer.
Sports enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers frequent our area, reputed to have one of the healthiest climates in the world. Mighty rivers rage through our valleys and sugar-cane; forests and singletracks run through the Giba Gorge for the cycle enthusiasts.
Many of the foreign tourists that come to South Africa come to watch or participate in sport events, with spectators accounting for over half of these arrivals. The 1000 Hills area is home to some of the plushest and most beautiful golf courses, all in close proximity to one another
and each with its own special features, not to mention an incredible climate all year round.
The sound of music rings out from our very own Botanical Gardens or alternatively, the gardens become the stage for an outdoor movie theatre. Our weekly Farmers Market opens with the call of the rooster in the early, misty hours of the morning. This could be the start of a day where you get to experience farm life or African game life and some of the best cuisine in Africa. Our sub-tropical paradise looks out over the ocean and reaches up to the clouds ... Take a sail, catch a fish, ride a horse or cycle, grab a paddle or dance to the rhythms of Africa. Then at the end of a steamy African day, catch a lager or simply stretch out for a lazy massage – we have it all!
