Mayor’s Message
On behalf of the people of eThekwini Municipality, we would like to welcome you to the vibrant and friendly City of Durban. Affectionately known as “The Warmest Place to Be”, the warmth of Durban not only applies to the fantastic weather we experience all year round but also to the warmth and vibrance of our people. Mirroring the multicoloured fabric of our nation, Durban’s exquisite blend of African, Eastern and Western cultures is reflected in a rich cultural tapestry of traditions and diverse cuisine.
Ours is a true representation of the rainbow nation,
and we take great pride in our diversity. Our ideal location and accessibility position us as a gateway to Africa and the rest of the world. Durban and South Africa are making huge strides toward becoming top global destinations and competing with older, more established markets as a result of the investment we are making in enhancing tourism infrastructure.
Durban is a lifestyle destination that caters to the needs of a variety of patrons, whether they are international or domestic visitors, business travellers, conference attendees, or holidaymakers.
As a destination of choice, the people of Durban take great pleasure in keeping our guests delighted and entertained, whether visiting our pristine beaches, dining at award-winning restaurants, or experiencing the inspiring scenery on our doorstep.
