    * NOTE 1: Preference will be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice applicants. The closing date for this programme is 30 September. We regret that applications received after this date cannot be considered. Applicants who studied/studying at a tertiary institution must submit a certified copy of an academic record not later than 10 January 2025. Students are required to undergo clinical training/placements at training sites outside Durban (some of which may be in rural KZN) as part of their mandatory HPCSA/SAPC/SANC clinical training. Such placements are compulsory, non-negotiable, may be on rotational and/or longitudinal basis and may be extended up to a year or longer. Whilst the University/College of Health Sciences will provide clinical training in collaboration with the KZN Dept of Health, in line with UKZN regulations, students are responsible for the cost of travel, accommodation and the basic costs of living, as applicable to and in the placement site.
* NOTE 2: First preference will be given to applicants who never studied previously at any other university. Applicants are required to pass the departmental evaluations. Medical fitness, physical fitness and environmental fitness. First preference will be given to applicants with both Phys Sci and Life Sci/Biol. The NSC subjects Mathematical Literacy and Technical Mathematics will NOT be accepted as a substitute for the NSC subject Mathematics. The NSC subject Technical Science will not be accepted as a substitute for the subject Physical Science. Meeting the minimum admission requirements does NOT guarantee selection.
* NOTE 3: First preference will be given to applicants who never studied previously at any other university. Students are required to present themselves for an interview and to write an assessment test. Meeting the minimum admission requirements does NOT guarantee selection. First priority will be given to the latest matriculants. Students who are pregnant or less than six weeks postpartum/termination of pregnancy need to declare to facilitate proper guidance. Returning students who have been previously enrolled for Bachelor of Nursing (DUT) MUST visit the Academic Department for the process of resuming their studies.
