* NOTE 1: First preference will be given to applicants who never studied previously at any other university. Matric results and ranking the programme as 1st or 2nd choice will be used for ranking applicants for acceptance. The NSC subjects Mathematical Literacy andTechnical Mathematics will NOT be accepted as a substitute for the NSC subject Mathematics.The NSC subjectTechnical Science will not be accepted as a substitute for the subject Physical Science. Meeting the minimum admission requirements does NOT guarantee selection.

Even though a candidate may satisfy these minimum admission requirements, acceptance is not automatic as further selection criteria are applied. Applicants from FET colleges and elsewhere must have the minimum qualifications of NQF 4 in Mathematics, Life Sciences, Physical Science and English.
* NOTE 3: The closing date for this programme is 30 September. We regret that applications received after this date cannot be considered. Applicants who studied/studying at a tertiary institution must submit a certified copy of an academic record not later than 9 January 2026. Students are required to undergo clinical training/placements at training sites outside Durban (some of which may be in rural KZN) as part of their mandatory HPCSA/SAPC/SANC clinical training. Such placements are compulsory, non-negotiable, may be on rotational and/or longitudinal basis and may be extended up to a year or longer. Whilst the University/College of Health Sciences will provide clinical training in collaboration with the KZN Dept of Health, in line with UKZN regulations, students are responsible for the cost of travel, accommodation and the basic costs of living, as applicable to and in the placement site.
