REPORT OF AWLO AKWA IBOM STATE CHAPTER FOR THE SECOND QUARTER (APRIL TO JUNE 2022).
MAY 2022
A general meeting was held on the 26th of May 2022 by 4pm at Suncenter in Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo in Akwa Ibom State where the June visitation to a secondary school in Eket was discussed and plans were put in place for the execution thereof.
The Vice President- Chief Magistrate Helen Umanah appointed Lady Lydia Danjuma as the AWLO resource person for Eket to act in stead of the Cordinator for the Eket Senatorial District.
A leadership summit for youths was also proposed to take place in July in Uyo with the involvement of the women and participation from the three(3) senatorial districts.
Highlights were also on the upcoming International Youth conference slated to hold on the 12th of August 2022, the international conference holding in Durban- South Africa, the annual awards and induction ceremony taking place in Ikot Ekpene in December, payment of state and national dues, and general participation of women in the organization.

AWLO AKWA IBOM STATE CHAPTER REPORT ON THE ADVOCACY VISIT TO GOVERNMENT SECONDARY SCHOOL AFAHA EKET IN CELEBRATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE AFRICAN CHILD HELD ON THURSDAY 23RD OF JUNE 2022.
The school Principal Mr. Eyo Aweh welcomed the team from African Women in Leadership Organisation(AWLO) Akwa Ibom State Chapter and appreciated the Organisation for choosing his school to carry out the sensitization/ celebration. The AWLO Youth Matron and State Secretary- Ofonime Ekpenyong introduced the AWLO team Members to the Principal.
The Team spoke to the students of the school based on the theme for the 2022 Day of The African Child
“Eliminating Harmful Practices Affecting Children: Progress on Policy & Practice since 2013”.
The Vice President of AWLO Akwa Ibom State chapter - Chief Magistrate Helen Umanah encouraged the students to focus on their academics, make good friends, and focus on the goals they want to achieve in life. She urged young boys as well as girls to pick up leadership roles and impact their generation and boys, most especially, to shun violence against girls in class but treat them as their sisters instead of bullying them.
The Youth Matron/Secretary- Ofonime Ekpenyong advised the students to be responsible at all times because
the future they are seeing starts now. If they prepare well, their work will celebrate them.
The Youth Coordinator Dorothy Edet encouraged the students to shun cultism and other social vices, but focus on their academics to become better leaders. She concluded by informing them about the effect of cultism and why they should report any harmful practices done to them.
Obongawan Mary Umanaette also encouraged the students not to lose focus, knowing that they are the leaders of tomorrow and the hope of the country in years to come lies in their hands. She facilitated them to always know that the world celebrates great people.
Mr. Joseph Assima (a He-for-She) advised the students to develop a reading culture so that they can perform well in academics. They were informed to always speak out if they face challenges.
A leadership club was set up and
students indicated interest to belong to the Leadership Club of AWLO. 100 branded AWLO exercise books were shared to the students alongside 100 pens.
A representative of the students Miss Joy Ndueso Ben, gave a vote of thanks on behalf of the students. Afterwards, the Eket Coordinator- Lady Lydia Danjuma hosted the entire team to a great stomach treat at her fast food restaurant where the team was refreshed.

A stop-over was made at Royalty Hotels, Eket, to pay homage to one of our Patrons - Pastor(Mrs) Umo Eno and the team was well received.
The event was a huge success and we return all glory to God almighty and our very warm appreciation to all our phenomenal women who sent in their financial donations and those who made out time to attend.
