A WARM WELCOME FROM UMHLANGA TOURISM
The Sun-blessed collective suburbia of Durban North, Verulam, Umdloti, Tongaat, Westbrook, Mount Edgecombe, Sunningdale, La Mercy, La Lucia and the international-renowned borough of Umhlanga itself join together as Umhlanga Tourism to extend a typically warm South Africa welcome to you, our visitors.
There is a valley- a beautiful valley – where wonderful sun-blessed people live. Within these innumerable hills, valleys, gorges and ravines lies the valley of Thousand hills. As one gazes out and across this range of blue mountains and silver waters, one is struck by the sheer beauty of KwaZulu Natal. “ Aah...our mountains .... Our mountains are more beautiful than the singing thereof...” Say the AmaZulu! Non, although we are describing the valley of a thousand hills, this could apply to any of our regions curated by our colleagues in our collective Community Tourism Organisation.
It gives me great pleasure and, it is indeed a privilege, to provide everyone with a warm Umhlanga Rocks Welcome! With superb displays of sunshine – 300 sunny days per year – our Indian Ocean`s Eastern seaboard is both warm and welcoming.
Nestling as we do on the Eastern Seaboard of Africa with the
warm Agulhas current of the Indian Ocean lapping mama Africa`s shoreline, our village’ Umhlanga Rocks awaits you – a really nice place with even, nicer locals.
The history of present -day Umhlanga dates to the time of our First-Nation people, the koi San Bushmen – tiny hunter -gatherers who roamed this region long before any later-arriving nations. Phoenician, Arab, and Chinese seaman followed the marine routing, eager to trade.
Wozani!
