HERITAGE STREETS OF KWA-MASHU
Acknowledgements
Scores of people have helped me in this work and influenced the outcome. I would like to single out those who contributed something specific that I could name even if they could not. My greatest appreciation goes to Siya Meyiwa, a professional photographer for this book, Africa Ignite, K-CAP Multimedia (designing team), and all interviewees.
The National Heritage Council (NHC) for funding and supporting the project through DSAC PESP4. The KZN Amafa Heritage and Research Institute for supplementary funding support towards additional printing for archiving.
In the province of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), a lot of research needs to be conducted to correct the pre-colonial mistakes related to the African heritage, in particular the wrong naming places, which therefore distort the actual meanings and interpretations. This could have been done purposely to ensure the native people forever lose their heritage. Over 100 PHD’s are awaiting to be written about the heritage and indigenous (African) knowledge of KZN province alone!
My contribution to this book is but the tip of the iceberg.
Let us continuously tell our tales so that they do not forever glorify the hunter.
