One of the major benefits for the BMD officials was the exposure to discussions on critical issues such as the sustainable management of biodiversity resources, wildlife conservation, and the development of income streams from biodiversity perspective. Insights gained from workshops on topics like Conservation planning tools, intra-African wildlife tourism and wildlife enterprise can provide valuable strategies for Durban’s biodiversity management.
The Conservation Symposium provided an excellent opportunity for the BMD officials to apply cutting-edge ideas to local projects, contributing to biodiversity protection and promoting a sustainable balance between urban development and biodiversity preservation in Durban.
The Conservation Symposium 2023 is an important highlight for eThekwini Municipality
as it served as a platform for collaboration, learning, and exchange of research among various biodiversity experts, policymakers, and practitioners.
