The College Hunt
nxiety or anticipation? Being a senior is
not as easy as ntany of us assume it would
dreams. You are riding along, and you finally reach
the sign that says “your college” . Your mouth drops
as you think to yourself this is not where I want
to spend the next four years of my life. Without
the visit, your hopes and dreams would have been
disappointed on freshmen orientation day.
It seems that everything in your senior year is
very important. Every piece of advice we are given,
every pat on the shoulder is helpful. We all hold
our breaths for that letter of acceptance. And yes,
thinking about college is stressful. We worry about
what we did yesterday and what we will do to­
morrow. We owe all our thanks to guidance. They
get an A-plus for giving us not a head full of
promises, but a pocketfull of help, encouragement,
kles across the brows of many seniors. What college
do I want to go to? Will this college fit my in­
dividual needs? Guidance does all that it can to
supply students with all the information they need
about post-secondary education. A huge calendar
outside of Guidance gives the dates of visiting col­
leges, and whether it is just to get away from class,
or to really get a sense of a college from a repre­
sentative’s perspective, it serves a great purpose.
So, you learn about a particular college in guid­
ance from a college rep., and you feel — hey, this
college has everything I want — time to make the
visit! So you, mom, and dad, pack a lunch and
head off to wherever it is to see the college of your
