Preparing for Change
he senior class is moving on.
Graduation and college signify independence, freedom, and adultĀ
hood. Now that we are close to this, we not only look forward with
starry eyes, but with apprehension and worry. This is a big change for us.
Someone once said that any change, for better or worse, is inconvenient. As
such, we seniors are trying to anticipate the inconveniences, pitfalls, and
blessings of our new lives and adjust accordingly.
Some of these changes are what make college life so rewarding. College
makes us feel as if we have more control in our lives. We determine our
sleeping habits, what we eat, the courses we take, and the things we do. We
will gain the independence that we have sought for so long. Also, we learn
interdependence as we count on others, and how to be reliable enough to be
counted upon. However, it is the uncertainty of the future that makes us
apprehensive. Will we meet people we like? Will we be popular or an outcast?
What type of roommate will we get? Will we fail academically or socially?
Can we make it on our own? We may not be able to go home where it is
safe and sheltered. Since we become our own person, we have to grow up.
This is why we are considered adults once we are in college. Trying to make
it on our own is a growing experience. We are happy to be finally considered
adults, but as we grow up we will leave something behind. That is the hardest
part of going to college. We will never be the same again, and we worry that
by growing up we will leave friends behind. We will leave behind the school,
the faculty, the friendships, but not our memories. We will miss everything,
and though we cannot turn back, we will still remain the class of 1994.

Seniors like to enjoy their free time after school in the parking lot. Paul Ci- ciarelli horses around with junior Todd Wilbur.
CBA seniors turned out in the cold for many games. Rich Masterpol and Jen Jacobson were such seniors who braved the elements to show their spirit.
