e all know how students react to this time of year. Their com-
raderie fills the halls. Candy canes, “ secret santas” , and the classic
WChristmas colors of red and green, are seen weeks in advance.
Mr. Mannion believes that Christmas is a “wonderful time of year” that
he “enjoys tremendously.” Both he and Mr. Fucello expressed a definite liking
for Christmas music. Mr. Fucello listens “to all types of Christmas music,
even classical” in order to get into the holiday spirit.
Mr. Romano, on the other hand, had a different perspective on the holiday
season — that of a classroom spirit. He expressed frustration in trying to get
everything taught to his students before the Christmas season. Obviously this
is difficult since the students’ attitudes are focused on the holidays.
While talking with the teachers I developed a whole new view of the
teachers’ lives. Their attitudes towards Christmas were the same as those of
students. Maybe teachers and students are more alike than previously thought
. . .
or maybe not.
Classtime means work, but it’s not always too serious. Mrs. Bigelow takes the time to share a joke with her class.
Walking to raise money can be tough, but Miss Whyte doesn’t seem to mind. Here, she spends a moment at the Catholic Schools Marathon to re flect on how much fun she’s having.
