On the world scene, the 1984 Dlympics at LA went off without a litch as the home teams dominated 3very event from boxing to swimming iwhile missions of patriotic fans cheered on in approval.
Closer to home, while CBA did not dominate the competition as its larger counterpart, the Brothers were al- iways competitive. Whether it was a
varsity football play-off game, the Brothers were there to play.
The year in sports was highlighted by the varsity baseball team’s win ning the last-ever CNY Cities League Championship over Corcoran. Individ ual accomplishments included many athletes being offered scholarships to prestigious colleges, such as Fred Vona for soccer and Kevin Speech for
golf and the extremely large number of athletes who were selected to All- League Teams. Another highlight was the increase of fan attendance at both home and away games which un doubtedly gave the Brothers addition al motivation. Varsity football player Bob Smyth commented, “ When I hear the crowd roar, I hit the opponents much harder.”
