 Varsity Soccer
The 1987 soccer season can best be summed up by one four letter word, DOME.” As the 1987 soccer season rolled in, all eyes focused on one team, Christian Brothers Academy. After having to share the championship the
previous year, the Brothers looked for ward to sweeping the league with a pow erhouse team consisting o f seven return ing starteres. After an exciting season of play, the prophecy had come true. The Brothers boasted o f a near perfect 11-0- 1 record in the league and a 13-4-1 over all record. The Brothers claimed sole possession of first place, and for the
first time in Brother’s soccer history.
advanced to challenge undefeated Chit- tenango for the Section Three cham pionship in the Carrier Dome.
The Brother’s defense was led by sen iors Pete Magitone and goal keeper Greg Aumiller, with aggressive support comingfrom senior halfback Ted Bark er and freshman defenseman John Col- lela. This well balanced structure was matched by few in Section Three.
The Brother’s offense hinged upon the experienced play of team captain Jason Gordon and league leading scorer Paul Collela. Best of luck to next year’s CBA squad and a sincere thank you to this year’s graduating soccer players.
