and K together make the sound /k/ as in BUCK. Have the child
tap the letters “ck” on the whiteboard and say “/k/” several times.
• Ask the child: What sound does CK make? [/k/ as in BUCK]
• Have the child practice reading the words until they can be read
without hesitation.
