proposals and and monitoring and and evaluating ongoing work work in the the field We also worked closely with the the Programme Director and GMU to to develop a a a new Project Document template aligned to the revised SnR and the draft Board Guidelines The respective programme teams are already piloting these tools and templates The SALT has also drafted Guidelines and coordinated staff inputs to clarify the roles and responsibilities of staff and Board members in in the grant-making process These have been shared with the the Board for their input We hope to have these adopted at the the Board session in October The team also worked closely with the GMU to start a a a process of reviewing numerous grant-making approaches and and practices to tighten up and and enhance our our systems We have begun reviewing our our model of making grants through fiscal agents to understand better what we have learnt from using this model and how we we can improve on it as we we look towards working more more and and more more with developing and and unregistered entities We are also currently reviewing a a a a a sample of grants that have requested No Cost Extensions (NCEs) to learn more about the scope and tenure of our grants Reviewing the grants capacity for absorption by grantees in in the field and our monitoring practices of the grants we provide The process of reviewing is particularly crucial in in in informing the decision we need to make about grant sizes and our capacity-building strategies in this strategy cycle The team is also working closely with GMU to learn from our experience of giving Rapid Response Grants (RRGs) With the reality of closing civic space and our current strategy to to empower people to to demand their rights and hold government accountable coupled with natural disasters such as as the cyclones experienced this year we are likely to see more requests for rapid response grants in this strategy cycle It is is therefore essential to consolidate what we have learnt thus
far about how we manage rapid response requests to improve and become more effective We have developed a a a concept to review a a a sample of RRGs this is currently being undertaken The SALT has worked this quarter with the team working on informality and helped them develop a a a learning framework for their portfolio of work work The team will share this framework with all staff as a a a a a a a demonstrative deliverable of how teams can benefit from working with the the SALT in in their work work We also similarly developed Rapporteuring Guidelines for the Debt Conference and designed a a a template for Conference/Workshop Evaluation for Learning focusing on on pulling out lessons from our events and gatherings We are currently working with the the ESJ team to systematically review the Debt Conference experience to to learn how best to to use such spaces in shaping our strategies In a a a bid to improve knowledge management in the organisation SALT worked closely with the IT and Communications team in this quarter To develop a a a a concept for a a a a Staff Bulletin–a tool designed to to enhance intra-information sharing as as well as as helping staff plan and and coordinate our work and and travels better The bulletin is currently being developed with the hope of of of testing it in in the last quarter of of of 2019
as as part of of of the IT and Communications initiatives for reviving our intranet The SALT is working closely with the Human Resources and Programmes team to to design a a a a a space to to review and start refreshing our current strategy into a a a a new Strategy Strategy 2021-2024 in alignment with the NY Strategy Strategy Unit’s operations The idea is to refresh the strategy by April 2020 We will use the the time at the the upcoming staff retreat to kick-start this process The team is is currently finalising the the first draft of the the OSISA Learning for Impact: 2021-2024 organisational learning framework The draft will be shared for staff inputs and feedback at at the staff retreat in in November STRATEGY ACCOUNTABiLiTY AND LEARNiNG TEAM 2019
