Lesson 9: Don’t Keep Stepping in the Dawg Poop!
A.) Reform- Learning from your mistakes!
All dogs make mistakes. We can learn from them and change our behavior, or aimlessly keep repeating them.
Scenario: Slim Dogg
Slim Dogg originated from a highly intelligent dog breed, but his surroundings over shadowed that foundation. Even though Slim had Big Ma Ma who loved him and raised him well, he couldn’t see his true value in the midst of parental neglect, violence, and the trauma he had experienced.
Slim’s parents weren’t involved in his life and Big Ma Ma had become ill. Slim had grown rebellious and hopeless. His intelligent mind was preoccupied with the Broadway Boyz, but he managed to stay in school and succeed in spite of it all.
After graduating from high school Slim caught a case and was sent to the Prison Yard. That system only bolstered Slim’s rebellious nature, which was rooted in a tough street life. His constant clash with authorities landed him in the Dawg Hole, where he sunk defenselessly deeper into the dawg shit.
Slim used some of his time wisely though. He wrote music,
and studied the legends he admired. His love for parroting street
stories, and listening to music kept him focused on something positive.
One unforgettable day he was notified that Big Ma Ma passed away. Slim had a wake up call. His “I don’t give a shit” attitude had to change. He realized his life and other dogg’s lives do matter, as he remembered what Big Ma Ma taught him.
