“Remembering Our Fallen is a photographic war memorial that honors our country’s military Fallen from The War on Terror (9/11/2001-Present). Unlike brick and mortar memorials, Remembering Our Fallen is designed to travel and includes both military and personal photos. Its legacy will be that these men and women will be remembered and their names will be spoken, while helping to lessen the grief of their families. A Gold Star family's greatest fear is that their Fallen will be forgotten...”
“REMEMBERING OUR FALLEN” FROM CALIFORNIA MEMORIAL DISPLAY HOSTED BY THE ANTELOPE VALLEY RURAL MUSEUM
Sponsored by the Antelope Valley Blue Star Mothers and the AV Vets 4 Veterans, the memorial display, Remembering Our Fallen — California, will be hosted by the Antelope Valley Rural Museum.
An emotional memorial, Remembering Our Fallen, is a stark reminder of the ultimate sacrifice made by nearly 750 fallen from California killed in the War on Terror while wearing our country’s uniform in a war zone. The photo memorial, which includes military and personal photos of each of California’s fallen, is traveling throughout the state and will be coming to the Antelope Valley.
The memorial will be displayed at the Antelope Valley Rural Museum, located at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds, Monday, October 22 through Monday, October 29, 2018. The financial sponsors of the memorial are the Antelope Valley Blue Star Mothers and AV Vets 4 Veterans. The AV Blue Star Mothers support our active duty troops, veterans and all our Gold Star families. Vets 4 Veterans is a local non-profit dedicated to empowering local veterans who are suffering the physical and psychological wounds of war, to successfully reintegrate into the life of the community. The Antelope Valley Rural Museum is honored to be a part of this moving tribute to our fallen men and women and gladly offered their building to display this memorial. The AVRM has several displays honoring veterans from all wars, including the Civil War through the current War on Terror. These displays include period uniforms worn by Antelope Valley veterans, memorabilia and photographs.
“To help the families in their grief, while reminding the rest of us of the terrible price paid for our freedom by our current generation of military, we must remember these American Heroes and speak their names when we see their family members. We can never forget those who sacrificed everything for our freedom,”said Bill Williams, co-creator of the memorial...While this memorial is about those who have died it was created for the living...to help the families in their grief, while reminding the rest of us of the terrible price paid for our freedom by our current generation of military.”
The opening ceremony will take place on Monday, October 22, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the main speaker at 7:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served. Schedule for the rest of the week will be announced at a later date. Contact Sylvia Gaxiola from the Blue Star Mothers for details at (661) 212-7607.
