The discourse over the current election has brought concerns up for many citizens across our country, but we have a chance on November 8th to make changes that will directly impact us at home through our local elections. California City has eight candidates for City Council and this election you have a chance to make a real difference in the direction of our city.
My name is Vic Carmona, a longtime resident, military veteran, and local business owner in California City, and I am running for a seat on the California City Council. Since I opened my restaurant three years ago, I have worked to bring our community together through community events, sponsoring high school student volunteer programs, and beautifying the local businesses. Next year, California City will be the first city in Kern County to have multiple marijuana cultivation facilities, the revenue from these facilities need to be entrusted to people with California City’s best interest in mind, and not the special interests or corporations only looking after their bottom line. With multiple public interest polls showing an average of 59% of voters being in favor of Proposition 64 – legalizing recreational use of marijuana – these cultivation facilities have the potential to ignite our economy and allow us to reinvest in our community and bring more jobs, both white and blue collar, to California City.
If elected I can promise you that I will work hard to reinvest in our city while maintaining a responsible, fiscally conservative budget. I will serve our city with respect, integrity, and without fear to voice my opinion – and yours – to the special interest groups who want to take power away from the people of California City.
