563rd Rescue Group
Mission: To organize, train and equip Air Force rescue to rapidly deploy and execute personnel recovery missions world- wide in support of nation- al security objectives.
Description: Directs flying operations for one of only two active-duty Air Force rescue groups dedicated to personnel recovery. The group is responsible for training, readiness and maintenance of one HC-130 squadron and two HH-60 squadrons, two Guardian Angel squad- rons, two maintenance squadrons and an op- erations support squadron operating from two geographically separated operating locations. The group is a geographically separated unit of the 23rd Wing located at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.

batant commanders.
The group also plans and executes infor- mation operations, including information warfare and electronic attack, in support of theater campaign plans. Members of the 55th ECG conduct EC-130H aircrew initial qualification and difference train- ing for 10 aircrew specialties and support operational and force development testing and evaluation for new aircraft systems.
Description: The 55th ECG is a geo- graphically separated unit of the 55th Wing headquartered at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska.

“Operation Snow-
bird” is a National

located at Davis-Mon-
than Air Force Base
and supported through
the 162nd FW. It was
established in 1975 as a winter deployment site for northern tier ANG flying units en- abling 16 squadrons to deploy for two weeks of training between October and May each year. Each deployment package consists of 10 to 12 aircraft, 20 to 24 pilots and 110 to 116 support personnel.
Located on four acres of property adja- cent to the north ramp, the compound con- sists of four buildings: snowbird operations, maintenance control complex and two sup- port facilities.
