AV Fair and Event Center Exhibit Entry Guide 2020
RULES:
1. Event starts: August 30, 2020 at 6:00pm – In the R. Rex Parris Show Arena – Exhibitors are to sign-in 30 minutes prior to
show time.
2. Top two senior and two junior showmen for each species will compete in Small Animal Round Robin.
3. If the first or second place showman for any animal is unable to compete in the Round Robin, the opportunity shall then go to
the next highest placing showman to third place only. All exhibitors placing up to third place that may move up “must” check-in
at the Livestock Office by Sunday, Aug. 30 by 10:00am
4. Exhibitors must bring the same animal that they won their showmanship class with to the Round Robin event. (Except Dogs)
a. Contestants cannot use their own animal during Round Robin showmanship.
b. All necessary safety precautions will be taken into consideration to ensure the well-being of participants, spectators,
and other animals. At the discretion of the Round Robin supervisor, if any animal is considered a threat the Round
Robin Superintendent or fair management will pick a substitute animal.
5. Any showman not signed-in at the designated start time will be disqualified.
6. Each showman shall represent only one animal. If qualified with more than one animal a choice must be made by Sunday,
Aug. 30, 2020, by 10:00am Non-compliance will result in the decision being made by the fair management. All exhibitors plac-
ing up to third place that may move up must check in at the Livestock Office by Sunday, Aug. 30, 2020 12:00 noon.
7. All exhibitors are required to wear the official show uniform of the organization they represent and have an armband provided
by the Fair.
8. Each showman shall show each animal represented for approximately 4 minutes, then rotate to the next animal until each
showman has shown each animal.
9. There will be a separate judge for each species. Each judge will be provided criteria and will complete a scorecard for each
contestant.
10. Scores from each species scorecards will be tallied. Winners will be the highest scoring contestant based on total points
earned.
11. Each contestant will be judged on their showmanship knowledge which may include:
a. Presentation and Handling of animal b. Moving or Leading
c. Questions
d. Show Animal to Best Advantage
e. Poise, Alertness, and Attitude
f. Appearance of Contestant
g. Ability to Follow Instructions of Judge
12. No coaching from the audience or volunteers. This can result in disqualification of the contestant.

50th DISTRICT OPEN SWINE CLASSIC - Residents who reside in the 50th DAA
Mandatory Requirement: All exhibitors 9 – 19yrs. old MUST obtain annual certification in the YQCA program. Those not certified are not eligible to participate at any California Fairs. State Rule II # 12. Certificate is due by August 1, 2020 to the Entry Office or livestock@avfair.com. YQCA information is at yqca.org
Entries Close: August 28, 2020 – 5 p.m.
Entry Fee: $20 per head per class
Showmanship: $5 per entry per exhibitor
Bred & Fed: $20 per head per class
Exhibits Received: 7am Saturday August 29th Weigh-in: 7am Saturday August 29th
Judging Time: Sunday August 30th 5pm (Swine Barn) WALK OUT directly following completion of show American System of Judging
All hogs must weigh a minimum of 180 lbs. and farrowed on or after 01/01/19. No limit on number of entries. Classes will be made by weight after weigh-in.
