ABSTRACT – Images in which the presentation of shape or form is the objective of the photograph.
ACTION – Motion being portrayed as the dominant theme, includes sports.
AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY – Images taken from an aircraft or other flying object. Includes images taken from fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV’s or “drones”), balloon, blimps, rockets, kites or parachutes
AIRCRAFT – Any type of craft designed to fly. (examples: airplane, hot air balloon, ultralight, etc.).
ANIMALS – DOMESTIC Pets or animals common to the home.
ANIMALS – WILD Nondomesticated animals in natural habitats, game farms, or zoos.
ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY – Photography of astronomical objects, celestial events, and areas of the night sky. Astronomical objects include moons, planets, planetary systems, asteroids, stars, star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies. Celestial events include cyclical phases of the moon, solar and lunar eclipses, meteor showers, and comet flybys.
BIRDS – Birds depicted as the main theme.
BLACK & WHITE – See MONOCHROME.
CLOSEUP – Close-up views of larger subjects. Shows detail and fills the frame (examples: butterfly, insect, part of a flower, a part of a face, or a part of a larger subject). Includes macro photography. It does not include the broad scene.
