Air Force Association recognizes D-M pilot
The annual joint awards din- ner for the Old Pueblo Flight and Tucson’s Air Force Asso- ciation Chapter was held on Dec. 6, 2018, at Davis-Monthan AFB.
Each year the Daedalian Flight recognizes an active- duty pilot from Davis-Monthan AFB as its “Pilot of the Year.” The winner was Capt. Ser- gio Lozano, 55th Electronic Combat Group. Lozano is an instructor pilot and current operations flight commander in the 55th ECG. While de- ployed to Afghanistan with the 41st Expeditionary Electronic Combat Squadron, he and his crew flew 43 combat sorties totaling 261 combat hours. He planned and flew a mission to protect a 61-vehicle special op- erations forces convoy to Farah to recapture the city from the Taliban. The sum of these deployed efforts electronically shielded 20,000 friendly forces enabling the destruction of 28 weapons caches, the capture of 18 high-value individuals and 152 enemy killed in action.
The Old Pueblo Daedalian Flight meets at 11:30 a.m. the third Thursday of the month September through May at Club Ironwood. For more infor- mation, email retired Lt. Col. Jerry Bryant at jgbddb@cox.net
