at Role II, they observed the amputees follow on treatment and a demonstration of telemedicine in a bag (THIAB) capabilities with another Role I that had a trauma patient. While touring the 299 BSB Role II and mortuary affairs facilities, discussions included communication platform deficiencies, leadership challenges, MTOE Assigned Personnel (MAP), and patient tracking.
The culminating event of the box was a discussion with senior leadership at the National Urban Warfare Center (NUWC) overlooking one of the towns that the rotational training unit must attack to seize. Discussions with future brigade commanders focused on restructuring of medical assets throughout the organization, potential regulation and evacuation platform changes, performance triad, mental health, the IDES process, and leadership challenges.

Lt. Gen. Nadja West, spent two days at the National Training Center, touring the Weed Army Community Hospital (WACH), observing and engaging with the 2/1 ID medical personnel, participating in Rotation 19-05 by visiting the Box and conducting a round- table with leaders.
MWR hosts Spring into Fitness 80’s 5K, along with DENTAC’s 2K for Tooth Decay runs

FORT IRWIN, Calif. — About two dozen people showed up for a 5K run that was like none other. Runners showed up to the Spring into Fitness 80’s 5K, decked in neon bracelets, big hair, leotards, sweat bands and colorful workout attire. The March 16 event and began at the Box Fitness parking lot. DENTAC joined the MWR’s monthly run and included a 2K for Tooth Decay theme. Runners received great, 80’s-themed gifts and DENTAC goodie bags. Awards were presented to the top three adult male and female runners for the 5k and 2k, as well as the top finisher in each youth category. MWR’s Sports, Fit- ness and Aquatics group hosts runs each month. The next one is on April 20 during the Month of the Military Child event at Jackrabbit Park. It will be a Super Hero 5K & 2K.
Finishing the 2K for Tooth Decay run was not an easy feat, but one person did it dressed as a tube of toothpaste.
This family won this 80’s-themed cut-out as a prize after the 5K run.
